Janis Ling

Hi everyone! I am Janis, a year 2 student from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. It is my honour to join the LexisNexis Student Ambassador Programme, when we have a brand-new platform this year. I am more than happy to share the legal research skills I have learnt with fellow students whenever they need help.

I am an inquisitive person who likes to ask and find out answers for whatever questions that pops out of my mind. The area of law I am interested in is administrative law, especially under such social context. I would like to know how the law governs the activities of decision-making bodies. Besides learning, I am a Cantonese debater and have represented CUHK to participate in different competitions. I understand that there is not always an absolute answer, but what truly matters is how you deliver your arguments to convince others, like what evidence you may raise. Communication is a bilateral process where you must consider what the other side wants to listen to. The same logic applies to our study and career when we need to convince our professors, clients or even the public. I believe my experience may assist students in research and making their arguments.
