Ms. Zhou is one of the earliest and most professional lawyers to engage in capital market disputes, in China.

From the inception of her career, she has observed that securities misrepresentation disputes are increasing in the international developed capital markets. Despite significant developments in China’s securities market, the regulatory and judicial enforcement practices were underdeveloped.

Hence, she decided to focus on capital market dispute resolution including securities compliance and litigation, and corporate litigation.

Fast forward to today, Ms. Lou’s work has exerted an enormous influence on this field. Her representations often make ‘Top Ten’ case lists, and are cited in Supreme Court understanding. This has led to revisions of judicial interpretations of securities misrepresentations.

As a lawyer at the frontier of this field, she has taken on many cutting-edge cases. She handled the first case of illegal operating securities off-exchange and market manipulation of ETF. She also represented Wuliangye, the Chinese liquor producer, in the largest securities misrepresentation case in China.

In the past year, she has persuaded the court to exempt ProTruly’s then-directors from civil liability in misrepresentation civil suits. She also represented Daxin in a 1.3 billion RMB case involving fraudulently issued company bonds. She has represented Xunyou Network Technology in the alleged misrepresentation of forward-looking information as well. Even with no current regulations on this issue, Ms. Zhou’s arguments persuaded the court to dismiss the plaintiff’s claims.

Ms. Zhou was named a 2021 ALB China Top 15 Rising Lawyer, and a 2022 Rising Star by CBLJ.
