LexisNexis® WOMEN TO WATCH 2023

Stephanie Siu started her legal career as a corporate associate at Reed Smith Richards Butler with a practice in M&A and corporate advisory work. She was part of the team of veteran partner Michael Pepper, and advised on several high-profile M&A transactions including CenturyLink’s USD 2.8 billion sale of its data centre business to Cyxtera.

By the end of 2020, Stephanie had a goal to develop something of her own in her career that would also help legal practitioners work more efficiently and sustainably. Gaining insights from her experiences, Stephanie believed that she could make the most impact on the legal industry by working in the area of legal technology. Hence, she joined eBrevia, a software company that specialises in AI-assisted contract review and transaction management under the Donnelley Financial Solutions group. At eBrevia, Stephanie was tasked with breaking into the APAC market and localising the software for law firms and companies from different jurisdictions.

As the APAC Director of Strategic Development and Legal Counsel at eBrevia, Stephanie is responsible for formulating go-to-market strategies and coordinating multiple teams. She also works closely with clients, law firms and in-house legal teams on the implementation of eBrevia’s contract review tool. An example of Stephanie’s achievement is expanding eBrevia's footprints to Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Korea, India, Indonesia and Australia, and negotiating a partnership with Canon to form an end-to-end contract lifecycle management solution for clients in the region. Stephanie also lectures on ethics and legal professional practice at the University of Law and regularly speaks at local universities and law schools (such as her alma mater the Chinese University of Hong Kong) on legal technology and artificial intelligence.
