Ishani Chandra started her legal career as an associate at a Tier 1 law firm [Anand and Anand] and was promoted to the position of Managing Associate at a very early stage in her career. Thereafter, she became a partner at Sagar Chandra & Associates. Today, Ishani acts as a Managing Partner and spearheads her intellectual property (IP) law firm. Her practice focuses on IP laws where she counsels clients regarding the acquisition and retention of IP rights. Over the years, Ishani has expanded her firm from a team of 3 to a team of 25 lawyers. Her firm has also grown from an IP Litigation firm to one encompassing IP Prosecution. Currently, Sagar Chandra & Associates is a cutting-edge IP law firm that was awarded the ‘Leading specialist in IP Prosecution’, India, in 2020 by APAC Insider and ranked No. 6 in Trade Mark Prosecution by Legal 360 Media, Hong Kong, in 2022.

Ishani is a member of the Delhi High Court Bar Association and the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI). She has also authored several publications, such as the "Development of trade dress in India" in the 2008 World Trademark Review. Ishani has had the opportunity to speak about the applicability of IP laws at the Judicial Academy in New Delhi multiple times where the audience consisted of distinguished civil court judges.

In addition, Ishani is involved in spreading IP knowledge to women artists in her role as the President of the Arts Leadership Council, Delhi Chapter of the Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. She is also a governing body member of Lady Irwin College and a Member Executive of All India Women’s Education Fund. In 2021, Ishani was acknowledged in the list of Powerful Women in IP India by the World IP Forum (WIPF).
