Fiona Tong

The Chinese University of Hong Kong

I am Fiona Tong, a year-three LLB student from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. I loved watching many legal and detective dramas and mangas since I was in primary school. These topics inspired my interest in criminal law. Later in secondary school, I had the first court visit and we watched both civil and criminal trials. The process of trials and the interaction between parties and the judge in the trial left me a strong impression. This also sparked off my interest in law. Therefore, criminal law is one of my favourites (It is obviously all law students’ favourites as well). I was very excited when I had a chance to. Other than that, I am also interested in family law. This was triggered by my experience of various internships in law firms. I gained some basic knowledge of marriage law by drafting documents, meeting clients and attending trials of several divorce cases. The decision made under marriage law is much more fact-sensitive so the arguments for each case seem to be more flexible. My hobbies are playing tennis and singing. I play tennis twice a week and I love singing karaoke with my friends.
