If an unofficial position for International Legal Ambassador exists, Michelle Jiaying Shen is the de facto choice, as she flies the flag for profitable cross-border business and cooperation.

Dual-qualified in P.R. China and Hong Kong SAR, and qualified at the New York State Bar, Ms. Shen fully mobilises her compound education and experience.

She’s deeply engaged in international financing and investment. One benchmark case is a cross-border guarantee project involving multiple jurisdictions stretching as far as the Cayman Islands.

With a target exceeding RMB two billion, it’s a first involving a local bank in Hangzhou as a syndicate with the participation of lawyers.

In the past year, she’s participated in cross-border acquisitions as lead counsel, laying foundations for investment and growth at all levels of Chinese enterprise, plus stronger cooperation between lawyers in different jurisdictions.

During ten years, Ms.Shen has attracted many significant awards including the Rising Lawyer and New Star Lawyer Awards from the Hangzhou Bar Association.

She leads Zhejiang’s international legal department and is responsible for liaising with overseas representative offices and developing foreign-related legal activities. Under her leadership, the volume of international legal business has increased significantly.

Ms.Shen encourages staff to highlight the advantages of their overseas background and language expertise; and she innovated the L&H Returnees Association, serving as the first President, to help overseas returnees maximise their experiences to professional advantage.

To benefit public welfare she comments on social issues from a legal perspective. She also regularly provides legal aid for fledgling local businesses.

Michelle熱心公益事業，她曾多次從法律的角度評論社會問題。她還定期為新興的當地企業提供法律援助。
