Stand-alone Installation Instructions
1. Stand-alone Installation Type
A stand-alone installation is a CD-ROM Based Installation.
Only the files required to run the Folio Views software
from the CD, and to access the libraries on the CD,
will be copied to the hard disk of the computer. The
CD will need to be in the CD-ROM drive after the installation
is complete, in order to access the libraries.
2. Commence
Restart the computer before running Setup, and ensure
that there are no other applications running.
Place the CD into the CD-ROM drive on the computer.
Click on Start and select Run.
(Windows 3.x users should click on File
and then Run, from the Program Manager)
In the "Open" textbox type D:\Setup (where
D is the CD-ROM drive letter).
Press Enter or click on OK.
The Welcome dialog will appear. Click
here to view the screenshot.

3. Installation Steps
On the Welcome dialog, click on the Next button
to proceed with the installation. You are now presented
with a dialog which allows you to choose the type
of installation:
Click on the Stand Alone
button. The dialog will change to display the Standalone
installation options:
Select the Run from CD option.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
The Complete option is displayed in
this dialog, but is unavailable. The password
you receive when unlocking the CD will only
enable the electronic libraries to be run
from a CD and will not work with a Complete
installation.
|
Click on the Next button to continue. The
Select Components dialog will appear:
Click on the box next to a library to tick it for
installation. (By default, no libraries are ticked).
Click on the Next button to continue.
The Select Program Folder dialog will appear.
It specifies the Program Folder to be created in the
Start Menu:
Setup now has all the necessary information to start
the installation process.
To proceed with the installation, click on the
Next button. Setup will then copy all the necessary
files and configure the computer system to run the
software.
When the installation process is complete, the Setup
Complete dialog will appear:
It is not usually necessary to restart the computer.
Click on the Finish button to close
Setup.

Stand-alone Update Instructions
If your Butterworths/MLJ CD-ROM is a subscription
product, then you will be entitled to a number of
updates within that subscription. For example, a 1999
subscription to The Singapore Case Law Library
entitles the subscriber to three CD-ROM issues - an
initial CD-ROM and then two updates.
All CD-ROMs in the subscription will require you
to run setup as you would for a new installation (refer
page 3).
Only your first CD-ROM installation within a subscription
period requires you to unlock the CD-ROM. Hence your
installation routine for a 1999 subscription year
consisting of three releases would be as follows:
|
1999
Release 1 of 3
|
1999
Release 2 of 3
|
1999
Release 3 of 3
|
2000
Release 1 of 3
