Q&As – Folio 4.3 Migration

Why are you upgrading to Folio® 4.3?

It’s our responsibility to provide you with the very best tools to research your LexisNexis publications. This means that we need to continuously update our software platform to accommodate new technologies.

When can I upgrade?

As each publication is serviced for the remainder of 2003 and the first half of 2004, it will be on Folio® 4.3 software. You can install this as soon as you receive it.

Is Folio® 4.3 easy to install?

The new installation and update program is combined in one, making installing and updating CD-ROM publications a breeze. It is easier and will load quickly and smoothly with a wizard leading you through the process.

How much will it cost?

There is no additional charge for this upgrade

Do I need additional training?

Folio® 4.3 works exactly the same way as the current Folio® 4.2 software. You should not require any additional training.

Will the publications still be in the same place?

No, as you install your new publications on Folio® 4.3 they will move to a program group called ‘LexisNexis’. Once each of your publications has been through a new installation cycle on Folio® 4.3 (by mid 2004), the program groups called ‘Butterworths Products’ and ‘Status’ will be obsolete and can be removed. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any questions or need any help.

Can I have publications installed using both Folio® 4.2 and Folio® 4.3?

Yes, you are able to have both Folio® 4.2 and Folio® 4.3 publications on your computer. As we are updating each publication with the new software through the normal update schedule, this will certainly be the case. You may also have publications from other publishers that are using different software - these should all continue to work normally.
