The New York Bar Exam
The New York Bar Exam is a 2 day exam.
- Day 1: One Multistate Performance Test (MPT) question (worth 10%), five NY essay questions (worth
40%) and 50 NY multiple-choice questions (worth 10%).
AM session (3 hrs and 15 min): 3 essays and 50 NY multiple choice questions.
PM session (3 hrs): 2 essays and one 90 minute MPT question.
- Day 2: MBE (worth 40%). 100 multiple choice questions each in the AM (3hours) and PM (3 hours)
sessions.
The New York Bar Exam is held twice a year in February & July.
The July 2009 Exam will be held on the 28th & 29th July 2009.
Are you eligible to sit the New York Bar Exam?
If you are unsure if you are eligible to sit the New York Bar Exam, it is recommended that you obtain confirmation of advanced eligibility prior to applying for the New York Bar Exam. The New York Board of Examiners can take up to 2 months from receipt of documents to process applications. Please see http://www.nybarexam.org/Foreign/ForeignLegalEducation.htm for more details.
