JOSH HARRIS
Head of Carbon Markets, China, The Climate Group
Josh Harris is the Head of Carbon Markets, China for The Climate Group and also serves as the Program Manager for the VCS Association in China.
Josh advises Climate Group members on carbon management and carbon market strategies. He has advised members including HSBC, Sky, BP, Interface, JP Morgan Chase, Swire, Tesco and Virgin. He advised Virgin Atlantic throughout their process to development a carbon neutral flight offer for their customers.
Over the last 2 years, Josh has been responsible for project managing the development and implementation of the Voluntary Carbon Standard Program, the most popular standard for voluntary offset projects. His role at VCS includes advising the VCS Board on policy issues, development of a multiple registry system and providing the first point of contact for project developer and verifier questions.
Josh also led The Climate Group’s effort to establish the International Carbon Reduction and Offset Alliance – which is a best practice alliance of carbon reduction and offset retailers – www.icroa.org. He was one of the founders of the idea and led the development and then implementation of the alliance in June 2008.
Prior to joining The Climate Group in January 2007, Josh worked for the Australian Federal Government’s Greenhouse Office for four years in the emissions trading and industry partnerships team and worked in environmental consulting. For the Federal Government, he developed the rules for carbon offset projects under the Greenhouse Friendly Program.

MARTIN COLLINS
Global Managing Director Europe Origination and Transaction Services, Natsource
Martin Collins is the Global Managing Director of Project Transactions Services for Natsource, he leads an origination and transaction services team active in greenhouse gas and renewable energy transactions. Natsource is a leading environmental transaction, advisory, and asset management service provider with offices in the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States and Japan.
Mr. Collins’ primary responsibilities are structuring innovative deals, in both the GHG and renewables markets, which add value for the participants and are transactable in today’s unchartered markets; and assuring that deal structures comport with the evolving policies that govern these new markets.
Mr. Collins is deeply familiar with the policy governing the EU emissions trading market, its interaction with the Kyoto Protocol mechanisms and the commercial instruments utilized in the market (contract structures, risk management arrangements and delivery mechanisms).
Mr. Collins has international transactional experience from other markets. Prior to joining Natsource in 2001, Martin was Managing Director and CEO of Tullett Futures and Options Asia, whom he worked for from 1986, stationed in Tullett’s London, Tokyo and Singapore offices.
Martin holds a BSc in Political Science from Southampton University.
SHI PING CHEN
Program Officer of Energy and Climate Change, Global Environment Institute
Mr. Chen got his MS degree from UC, Riverside. He joined GEI in January 2006 as program officer of Energy and Climate Change. By working with top energy efficiency and financing expert, he helped secure equity and debt investment for the Waste Heat Recovery (WHR) project in cement sector from foreign investors. Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) was used as a financing tool. The whole financing package includes 25 WHR projects with a total installed capacity of 172 MW, a total investment of $ 126 million and total CERs of 970 thousand tons per year. The first tranche of investment was set down in June 2007. He also developed CDM for the WHR project. He was invited to Introduced CDM in UK-CHINA Seminar organized by British Consulate General Chongqing. He also implemented “Capacity Building on Business Opportunities for CDM Projects in China”, “Develop Marketing Tools for Energy Efficiency Investments in China’s Metallurgy Industry” and “Identifying Opportunities and Key Stake Holders to Mitigate the Energy and Environment Crisis in Southern China”.
Dr. THOMAS TANG
Executive Director, Global Institute for Tomorrow
Dr. Thomas Tang is the Executive Director of the Global Institute for Tomorrow (GIFT), a private social ventures organisation based in Hong Kong aimed at fostering links between civil society and business. GIFT focuses on programmes that bring together technical and commercial expertise with emphasis on the role of business in communities and the setting up of social enterprises.
With over 15 years of advisory and consulting experience, Dr. Tang is a specialist in sustainable development, corporate strategy, organisational behaviour and public policy research. He has worked for a range of clients including the Hong Kong Government, the World Bank, many major multinational companies and the not-for-profit sector. Previously based in England, where he obtained his doctorate degree in Chemistry, he moved to Asia in 1993. He is married with two children.
YK PARK
Project Director- ASrIA
Before moving to Hong Kong from Seoul in 2002, YK spent 10 years as a securities analyst working for international investment banks based in South Korea. She has covered a range of industry sectors including electric power, consumer, and heavy industries such as chemicals for Barings and Salomon Smith Barney. She holds a BA in Information Science from Yonsei University in Korea. In her time at ASrIA, YK has focused on the creation of the SRI Funds and Toxic Chemicals Portals and the implementation of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) in Korea. She has also provided commentary on sustainable investment issues to a broad range of Korean and global investors.
TOMONORI SUDO
Ph.D., Advisor, Office for Climate Change, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), JAPAN
Tomonori Sudo, Ph.D., advisor of Office for Climate Change of JICA, is in charge of climate policy planning in JICA’s Operations, and he is also a member of Japanese Delegation to the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC). He has experiences of ODA loan operation to Indonesia, Malaysia, Bangladesh and China. In addition, he was conducted climate policy research and capacity building on CDM in CDM at IGES. Dr. Sudo received his Ph.D. in International Studies from Waseda University, Japan, B.A. in Economics from Osaka University in Osaka, Japan and M.Sc in Environmental & Resource Economics from University of London (UCL).
Dr ANDREW THOMSON
Chief Executive Officer, Business Environment Council
Dr Thomson has over 20 years of working experience including 15 years in Asia undertaking environmental and corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs for business and public clients. As Chief Executive Officer of the Business Environment Council (BEC), he is responsible for realising the mission of the organisation; to advocate the business case for sustainable development, and encourage the uptake of practices, which reduce waste, conserve resources, prevent pollution and improve corporate environmental and social responsibility.
Dr Thomson specializes in strategies for corporate sustainability from development of framework management systems (ISO 14001, ISO 18000, SA 8000 etc) to more in depth implementation plans for cleaner production, waste minimization, energy efficiency and corporate governance.
Dr Thomson serves in various public and private capacities, including Member of HKSAR Government’s Harbour-front Enhancement Committee, Council for Sustainable Development’s Strategy Sub-Committee, Environment Bureau’s Waste Disposal Appeal Board Panel and Innovation and Technology Commission’s Accreditation Advisory Board Working Party for Accreditation of Certification Bodies. He also serves as Member of Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency’s OHSAS 18001 Technical Committee, Founding Member of BEAM Society, Executive Committee Member of Climate Change Business Forum and Harbour Business Forum, BEC Liaison to the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, Judging Panel Member of ACCA Sustainability Reporting Awards, Organizing Committee Member and Chair of Judging Panel of Hong Kong Awards for Industries’ Environmental Performance, Awards Committee Member of Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence, Member of Project Chambers and Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce.
ANDREW ALDRIDGE
Vice President, Greater China, Climate Change Capital
Andrew Aldridge is a Director in the Carbon Finance team, based in Beijing, where he is responsible for investments in renewable energy and energy efficiency businesses in the Greater China region. Andrew brings wide ranging experience of investing in energy companies in emerging markets, as a private equity investor, project/corporate financier and project developer. Before joining CCC, he founded EM Energy Solutions, a boutique consultancy providing project development and investment management advice to private equity funds operating in Europe, Middle East and China. Prior to this, Andrew was a director at Actis/CDC Group, a private equity business focused on Emerging Markets, where he built a US$350m portfolio of investments in energy and utility companies. Andrew is a chartered accountant and graduated with a BSc(Hons) in Physics from Imperial College, London.
CALVIN XU
Senior Industrial Specialist – Energy & Climate Change, Global Financial Markets Department, International Finance Corporation
Mr. Calvin Xu was appointed Senior Industrial Specialist for Energy and Climate Change in May of 2008. Based in Hong Kong but traveling extensively in the regions of East Asia, Pacific and South Asia, Calvin leads the business development and implementation of IFC’s financing mobilization programs for climate change, energy efficiency, renewable energy and clean production. Previously, he served as the head of the innovative China Energy Efficiency Finance Program in Beijing, under which he led the team to successfully build up an energy efficiency loan portfolio of more than $450 million with three Chinese commercial banks. Projects financed with the loan portfolio directly contribute to the total emissions reduction of more than 4.5 million tons of carbon dioxides per annum.
Calvin brings to IFC more than fifteen years of unique experience in the energy and financing businesses. He has worked on projects that cover the whole value chain of energy production, transportation, distribution, trading and consumption, and in the capacity of a business developer, financial adviser or consultant. While Calvin has worked extensively on projects of conventional energy such as coal, oil and gas, his most recent involvements have been in coal liquefaction & gasification, renewable energy and energy efficiency in residential, commercial and industrial sectors.
Calvin has a bachelor degree of economics from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and an MBA from Georgetown University. His former employers include Pace Global Energy Services, Enron Corporation, BHP Billiton, and the Chinese Government.

Mr. Yin in his private business is the Chairman of Trigo Enterprises Limited engaged in manufacturing and international trading, the Chairman of EPPA Enterprises Limited focused in water treatment projects, the Chairman of Greater China Environmental Protection Company Limited which has got agencies of technologies and equipment related to environmental protection and energy efficiency and the Chairman & CEO of EESCO P2E2 Hong Kong Limited concentrates in P2E2 (Pollution Prevention and Energy Efficiency) projects in China.
Mr. Yin has got 3 dreams.
The first dream is to work on P2E2 projects first in PRD region and later extend to whole China.
The second dream is to combat desertification in China and use the successful models to work on all the other deserts in the whole world.
The last dream is to use the platform of Greater China Sustainable Development Council to unite all the oversea Chinese, to make contributions to China to quicken the procedure to lead Asian countries to establish “Asian Union” to justly, fairly and openly work and coordinate with North American Alliance and European Union to bring the global mankind to eventually march in universal harmony.
